This 13 week supportive experience offers workshops designed to prepare participants to move into employment, training or further education. The program focuses on life skills, job search techniques, and education. We utilize a holistic approach that supports women in gaining the necessary confidence and skills to take a step forward to a more meaningful life. Body Image & Self Esteem Program As a result of the visit by artist Cheryl-Ann Webster and her Beautiful Women Project the YWCA Cambridge will continue to offer the opportunity to have a trained staff member come into your school to present on the topic of Body Image and Self-Esteem (at no cost). We want to best meet your individual school needs so we can be flexible with both the audience (boys and girls together or girls separately) and the time allotment (one class period or a full hour presentation). Presentations can be accompanied by teaching resources, developed by an educator with over 30 years experience, that are based on Ontario curriculum guidelines. Roots of Empathy The Roots of Empathy program attempts to reduce levels of aggression in school aged children and through this process raise social and emotional competence and increased empathy. The goals of the program is to break the intergenerational cycle of violence and poor parenting, build the capacity of the next generation for caring and compassionate citizenship and parenting. With increased empathy more respect and caring is created in those who participate in the program. The programs success is based in the positive engagement of all students not through the targeting of bullies. |
