YWCA of Cambridge.

The YWCA is a home and a voice for women and their families in Cambridge. For more than fifty years we have offered safe places for kids to play and learn, courses to help women grow and develop, and support and advocacy for those in need. Through our child care centres, women's programs, youth programs, community events and public action, we raise women's issues and work to end violence and poverty.

Root of Empathy

Root of Empathy (ROE) is an evidence-based program that has shown dramatic effect in reducing levels of aggression among school children while raising social and emotional competence and increasing empathy.  The program reaches elementary children from Kindergarten to Grade 8. The mission of ROE is to build caring, peaceful, and civil societies through the development of empathy in children and adults.

How do you grow a more caring society? You create better citizens, citizens who recognize that the needs of others are equal to their own. It’s simple really. Simple enough for the youngest children to learn. Basic enough for a baby to teach. That’s Roots of Empathy!
