International Work

YWCA Naucalpan, Mexico

In 2008, YWCA Cambridge and YWCA Kitchener-Waterloo joined forces to provide funding for an HIV/AIDS prevention program for boys and girls at YWCA Naucalpan in Mexico. YWCA Naucalpan is working to save lives from this devastating disease. With the funding provided by our organization they have been able to purchase a computer, a projector and written materials that have allowed them to better demonstrate how to prevent HIV/AIDS and the use of condoms. The program has been a tremendous success and they have now exceeded their capacity to respond. They are receiving requests from other groups and agencies in their community for the same kind of education program for their clients.

Ana Maria Figueroa, President of the YWCA of Naucalpan writes: "All this while we continue with our HIV/AIDS prevention workshops at the universities, organizations, offices, schools and housewives because we believe the work should never stop if we are ever to combat this disease. Your financial support has been key to our success so far."
